Texas Travesty

Op-ed: You would think The Cure’s band manager would be all over this

May 4, 2020 by Texas Travesty

I’ve spent hours on end, every night of quarantine, staring at the ceiling and begging to know: Where is The Cure? Sometimes I’ll even turn over and Google search “Did The Cure actually get back together or was that just a fever dream?” I literally cannot think of a better time to be The Cure’s band manager than during a global pandemic. Every day I open up Twitter and see “The Cure” is trending in the U.S. … but to no avail! I click on the tab expecting to be bombarded with Robert Smith fancams and shitposts, but somehow end up extremely emotionally invested in a Twitter battle between anti-vaxxer Veronica and pro-quarantine Quincy. If I was The Cure’s band manager I would at the very least insist that the band sell masks and premiere a new album on Google hangouts! I just can’t go another day knowing that The Cure is out there, and Chris Parry is doing absolutely nothing about it.
